Los Angeles Uprising: May 25th, 2020 - November 7th, 2020
The murder of George Floyd sparked a summer of civil unrest across the US. While television and legacy outlets reported on the property destruction, the frontlines of the uprising were much more complex than fires and broken windows.
The George Floyd Uprising was the public’s collective rage that took shape as riots, chants, destruction, occupation and organizing. The state had its own reaction to the people’s rage.
Across the country, police agencies committed violent acts against protestors. The violence did not discriminate against the public, the peaceful, the violent or the press. Within the first month of the uprising, federal agencies, including the Department of Homeland Security and the National Guard, were deployed into urban areas.
